The Sky Above the Port | 2010 - ongoing
Polarization filter on window and rotating polarizer
variable dimensions
The sky above the port is inspired by the first sentence of William Gibson ‘s book Neuromancer: “The sky above the port had the color of television, tuned to a dead channel”. It is a site specific adaptations of the work Static. It’s made to the dimensions of existing windows.
Where Static is experienced as object in space, The Sky Above the Port becomes a part of the environment. A minimal intervention that changes the viewer’s perception of the world outside.
