Double Super 8 loop, color
In FPS a shoot’m up computer game is simulated with Super 8 cameras. Two contenders try to find each-other in their field of view and fire. The game last as long as a role of film. The result is projected side to side in a form that resembles the interface of a multi player game.
Filmed on kodachrome color film, in the year of a it's discontinuation, a new medium is captured on an outdated medium. Marshall McLuhan wrote that the content of each new medium is always an older medium. In FPS this hypotheses is turned around and a new medium is captured on an outdated medium. This is done not only literally by choice of the material medium: the act of shooting in a game environment is transformed into montage or editing in film.
